Training Update

Full details, that are easy to read, around the requirement for workers handling Hazardous Substances can be found on the new WorkSafe NZ website. How this is to be achieved is up to the PCBU. Download the short pdf here.

To meet these requirements DGC can facilitate your training. If a PCBU or third party conducts training at a site, and the site requires a Compliance Certificate, then the PCBU is required to show the Compliance Certifier: the training material, the name of the person who conducted the training, including any qualifications before final Compliance Certification can be issued.

The previous Approved Handler concept, where at least one person had to be trained has gone, other than for class 6.1A and 6.1B substances.  These certificates are now issued as Certified Handlers. However, previously trained Approved Handler certification will be recognised going forward, as the training competency is similar to the new requirement.
